Ricardo Buchan
Ricardo Buchan was born on October 28, 2008, in a small town in Mpumalanga called Volksrust. In 2009, he moved from Witbank to Pretoria with his mother, carrying the dreams of his late father, Brett Buchan, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in Witbank on February 24, 2023. Brett’s passion for off-road motorcycles inspires Ricardo to honour his legacy by developing his skills and embracing the sport he loved.
With the guidance of his grandfather, who serves as both his coach and ultimate role model, Ricardo is determined to forge his own path and make his father proud.
Ricardo and his “Oupie”
With his grandfather’s skills and knowledge of the sport, gained from coaching his father, the love and care put into the race goes far beyond just sport.
Keep your bike steady & your mind ready for the ride.
First Bike
Ricardo began his journey on a 125 Yamaha, a motorcycle that initially seemed to suit him. His grandfather dedicated countless hours to ensure he mastered every obstacle in their path, providing invaluable training and guidance. However, it soon became clear that this particular bike was not up to the challenge. The engine’s small size ultimately hindered Ricardo’s potential, leaving him yearning for more power and capability.
Second Bike
Yes, he recently made the switch to a 250 Yamaha, and it’s been quite an exciting transition for him. But can you believe he’s already looking ahead to the opportunity of riding a 300? The upgrade promises even more power and performance, and he’s eager to experience the thrill it brings.
